Oxford, Wisconsin Resident and Former Pine Ridge High School Football Player, Gregory Wayne Brewer Jr., 27, Dies After Battling for Life in ICU

The Pine Ridge, South Dakota, and Oxford, Wisconsin, communities mourn the untimely death of beloved member and former standout athlete, Gregory Wayne Brewer Jr.

According to , Gregory ‘Greg’ Brewer Jr. died on November 10, 2026, at the UW Health University Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, at an untimely age of 27.

His family revealed that Gregory Wayner Brewer Jr. was battling for his life in the ICU and was on life support; however, the details surrounding his untimely death have not yet been disclosed.

Greg made a decision to become an organ donor before his passing.

Born on July 26, 1998, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, Greg Brewer Jr. was a cherished member of the Pine Ridge sports community and touched many lives through his athletic journey and kind-hearted nature.

He attended Pine Ridge High School, where he excelled in both basketball and football, leading his team to several victories throughout his high school career.

graduated in 2018 after an impressive high school career in both basketball and football.

Standing 6’2″,he played forward and guard for the Pine Ridge varsity basketball team, helping lead them to a 17-6 record in his junior year (Region 6-2, 2nd place, State Rank #17, National Rank #2398) and an 8-13 record in his sophomore year (Region 2-5, 5th place, State Rank #81, National Rank #11815).

On the football field, Greg demonstrated versatility and leadership as a fullback and linebacker.

During his senior year, he helped his team achieve a 3-6 record (Region 2-3, 4th place, State Rank #52, National Rank #13891), and as a sophomore and freshman, he showed promise with records of 0-9 (Region 0-5, 6th place, State Rank #58, National Rank #14583) and 3-6 (Region 3-2, 3rd place, State Rank #51, National Rank #13563), respectively.

Greg’s dedication, athleticism, and team-first mindset left a lasting impact on his teammates, coaches, and community, making him a memorable figure in Pine Ridge sports.

Gregory Wayne Brewer Jr. is Survived By His Mother, Rita Moran, Siblings, Children, and the Entire Family

Greg Brewer Jr. was not just an amazing athlete but also a great son to his mother Rita Moran, a loving father to his two children, and an amazing brother to his siblings.

He leaves behind his mother, Rita Moran; his sisters, Keisha Brewer, Sharay Brewer, and Rhionna Brewer; his brothers, Tyson Red Cloud and RayVaughn Brewer; his children, Braya and Chloe; nieces and nephews; and the entire family.

His mother, Rita Moran, shared beautiful pictures of Gregory Brewer on social media, paying tribute to him.

Similarly, his sisters also shared memories of the late Greg on social media.

Gregory Brewer Jr. was preceded in death by his father, , and his sister, Tabria Laticia Red Cloud.

He followed in his father, Greg Sr., ‘s footsteps in sports. His father, Gregory Wayne Brewer Sr., was a member of the 1987 Pine Ridge Thorpes State A Championship team.

Greg Sr. passed away on February 23, 2011, in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.

Both Gregory Wayner Brewer Jr. and his father’s legacy in the Pine Ridge sports community will always be remembered.

The Brewer family has organized a wake service to honor the late Greg Jr. on Tuesday, November 25, 2026, starting at 3:00 PM at the Payabaya Church near Pine Ridge, South Dakota, with evening services starting at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Payabaya Church, with traditional Lakota services and burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Wounded Knee, SD.
