27-year-old American actress Sydney Sweeney recently took to her Instagram to make public that she is playing legendary female boxer Christy Martin in the unnamed biopic directed by David Michôd.

On October 16, 2026, Sydney shared a couple of behind-the-scenes pictures on Instagram, flaunting her brown curly hair and muscles, giving glimpses of her transformation into International Hall of Fame boxer Christy Martin.

The fact to be told is that she appears pretty indistinguishable from Christy in appearances, although it was just a makeover. And in the caption, Sydney wrote,

Well, the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little bts from my film im working on right now. Over the past few months, i’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman—a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring.

Further praising the inspiring journey of Christy, the Everything Sucks actress stated,

Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honored to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. More to come soon 🙂
CHRISTY MARTIN

Well, Christy Martin is a former American professional boxer who remained in the field for 23 years, from 1989 to 2012. Three years before her retirement, she became the world champion in the super welterweight class.

Also, in 2016, Christy created history by becoming the first female boxer elected to the Nevada Boxing Hall of Fame. Likewise, she is the first female inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame, per her Instagram bio.

With this, she has been considered ‘the most successful and prominent female boxer in the United States’ and the only person to validate women’s participation in boxing.

Not only her professional life but also her personal life inspires people equally. She survived her former husband James Martin’s deadly attack back in 2010.

Having such an inspiring lifestory, it’s no wonder that the biopic of Christy Martin is in the process of filming, and featuring Sydney Sweeney as Christy seems to be the best choice, based on her latest shared pictures.

Alongside Sydney, the biopic casts Merritt Weaver, Katy O’Brien, Ethan Embry, Jess Gabor, Chad L. Coleman, Tony Cavalero, and Ben Foster as James Martin.
