Seneca Valley High School Wrestling Coach Ken Lockey, 83, Passed Away, Preceded in Demise by His Wife, Mary Lockey!

Longtime wrestling coach Kenneth Raymond Lockey, best known as “Ken Raymond,” passed away on September 17, 2026, at the age of 83.
Tragically, Ken’s passing comes less than a month after his wife Mary’s demise on August 24, 2026, at the age of 82.
Denise Manganello expressed her sorrow for their children, who now face this heavy loss so soon after their mother, writing:
Aw, I feel so bad for his kids. To lose their mom and now their dad. May he be at peace with his beloved wife. My thoughts and prayers to the entire family and friends.
Denise ManganelloMary and Ken first crossed paths at a high school wrestling match. She had his back throughout his lengthy wrestling coaching career at Seneca Valley, spanning over 30 years.
In fact, was also affectionately known as “Wrestling Mom”.

He also leaves behind his grandchildren: Sheigh Foster, Lea Beers (married to Evan), Taylor Correll (married to Kevin), Alex Lytle, and Shane Lytle.
Ken Raymond was also a beloved great-grandfather to his great-grandchildren, Kyler Dodson, Gray Foster, Colt Foster, and Cecilia Mitro.
He will also be remembered by his surviving siblings, George Lockey, Mary Fleckenstein, and Rita Morbeto.
In addition to his wife, Mary, Ken Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Clemens and Florence Loceky, and his sister Bonnie Winters.
Born on March 29, 1942, in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania, Ken showed an interest in the outdoors from an early age. He graduated from Philipsburg-Osceola High School in 1960.
After that, he earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Clarion University. Ken wrestled during his time at the University.
Later, Ken completed a master’s degree at Westminster College.
For much of his career, Ken taught history and economics at Seneca Valley High School, retiring in 1999.
In 1966, he took on a special role by founding the school’s wrestling program and served as its head coach for 33 years.
The program became a key part of his work and personal world, thanks to the strong bonds he formed with his students.
Eventually, his efforts in wrestling earned him honors, including spots in the Butler County Hall of Fame, the Western Pennsylvania Hall of Fame, and the Pennsylvania Hall of Fame.
Outside the classroom and wrestling mat, Ken enjoyed fly fishing with the flies he tied himself. He also loved hunting, camping, gardening, and woodworking.
Likewise, Ken was active in his faith community at St. Gregory Church, part of Divine Grace Parish in Zelienople. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
His family shared heartfelt thanks with several people who meant a great deal to Ken.
They appreciated Wayne Bloom for arranging the over the summer.
Likewise, they also extended their gratitude to their neighbors, Frank Luek, Jack and Karen Sharrar, Bob and Mary Watson, and Larry and Vicki Ierardo, for their support and care for Ken and Mary over the years.
Friends and family are invited to gather at Boylan Funeral Home, Inc., located at 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063, to remember Ken.
Visitation will be on Monday, September 22, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A blessing service will follow right after at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
During this difficult time, we pray for the strength of Ken’s children, friends, and extended family.
