Rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku Clashes With Tight End Brevyn Spann-Ford During Cowboys Training Camp

Rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku clashed with Brevyn Spann-Ford, but it was quickly cleared up.

The Cowboys signed their second-round pick, Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku, to his four-year, $10.1 million rookie contract.

Donovan was the 9th and final Cowboys , after a holdup with 29 other second-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft caused a delay.

The cause of the delay was historic, as for the first time in NFL history, a second-round pick signed a fully guaranteed rookie contract. The Houston Texans gave the 33rd overall pick, Iowa State WR Jayden Higgins, the term in his deal.

Cowboys also signed Alfred Collins, but the deal was not fully guaranteed.

In Ezeiruaku’s case, he will reportedly receive the first three years of his money guaranteed, plus 38% of his fourth-year money guaranteed, bringing the total to around 85% of his deal guaranteed.

Donovan wasn’t concerned about his contract situation and wanted to focus solely on playing football, leaving the outside factors to his representation to handle.

A Little Clash Took Place Between Donovan Ezeiruaku And Brevyn Spann-Ford During First Practice

While it seemed reasonable to see the players take the field, the camp didn’t start until a minor brawl broke out.

After an hour into , the first clash took place between the team’s second-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft, Donovan Ezeiruaku, and the breakout stars of minicamp, Brevyn Spann-Ford.

Spann-Ford was the lone undrafted free agent to make the roster last year.

The exact reason behind the clash has not been revealed yet by the players or by the Cowboys’ officials.

Before the practice session, Cowboys’ head coach Brian Schottenheimer said that he wants everyone to be competitive and hoped to see players willing to get physical.

Donovan and Brevyn are both young talents who are looking to impress the coaching staff. If they continue the fierce battles through training camps, it might go a long way.
