Ted W. Valentine, who worked at the Pittsburgh Pirates training facility, passed away peacefully at his home on March 5, 2026.
Born in Ohio on December 17, 1941, he was originally from Canton, OH, and later resided in Palmetto, FL.
He was an alumnus of Massillon High School and later earned his teaching degree from Heidelberg College.
Ted Valentine Dedicated 35 Years to High School To Shape Young Athletes!
Ted taught and coached high school football in Ohio for 35 years. During this time, he worked as a teacher in a high school, educating students in the classroom.
He also served as a football coach, training and guiding the high school football team.
In that mean time, his passion and enthusiasm for the sport shone brightly on the sidelines.
After retirement, Ted relocated to Florida and spent several years at the Pittsburgh Pirates training facility.
He has a deep fondness for traveling and immersing himself in various activities such as numerous trips, cruises, plays, and concerts.
His happiest moments were when he was actively involved in something or on the go.
Ted worked at the Pittsburgh Pirates training facility for many years.Ted is preceded in death by his grandson, Kade Allison, and his beloved wife, Candy
He is survived by his fiancée, Marcia Michalaski, his daughter, Lisa (Roy) Allison, and his son, Trevor (Laura) Valentine.
Additionally, he leaves behind his stepsons, Phillip and Steven Rich, and grandchildren, Erin Allison, Carter, and Parker.
He was not only a dedicated coach but also a beloved figure who touched many lives.
His colleagues and friends at the Pittsburgh Pirates training facility have been sharing heartfelt tributes.
They remembered him as a passionate coach who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone.
His fiancée and his children have been mourning the loss of their beloved partner and father figure, respectively.
