Late Petara Cordero, who passed away on September 11, 2019, is survived by her mother, Denise Smith, and six siblings.

She was well-known as the partner of the late Chris Smith, an American football defensive back.

Smith and Cordero had a daughter named Haven Harris Smith, born on August 27, 2019.

Just two months after her daughter’s birth, Cordero tragically passed away in that took place on a highway in Cleveland.

Another tragedy struck on April 17, 2026, as NFL player Chris Smith died. The cause of his death is currently unknown.

Petara Jessie Harris-Cordero, known as Petara Cordero, was born on July 2, 1993, in the state of North Carolina, United States. Her mother’s name is Denise Smith (birthday: December 10).

Unfortunately, no information is available about her father, including his name or any details about him.

Late Petara grew up in North Carolina and previously worked at LaWan’s Soul Food, located on South Tryon Street in her hometown. 

Petara Cordora: Six Siblings

She had a total of six siblings, including her sisters: Kyphi Boyd and Elektra Cordero, and her brothers: Ramses Cordero, Seti Cordero, Min Cordero, and Karis Cordero.

Her elder sister Kyphi Boyd is an entrepreneur and married to Raymond Boyd.

Elektra Cordero, her other sister, is currently the chef of Cordero Strong Cuisine and a mother of two daughters.

Ra Cordero, one of her brothers, owns Next Level Mounting Solutions and is also a co-owner of PJ’s Pressure Washing. He is married to Shareeka Firms Cordero and has a daughter.

Karis Cordero, another of her brothers, is a digital creator and has already released some songs.

Her other brother, Min Cordero, studied at Central Piedmont Community College and currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Death Of Petara Cordero

On September 11, 2019, Cordero and Smith had a tire malfunction in their Lamborghini while driving on the highway.

The car spun out of control and crashed into a median close to the West 140th Street exit.

They were unharmed, and Cordero stepped out of the passenger-side door. Tragically, she was fatally hit by an oncoming vehicle on I-90 West in Cleveland.

According to the police, the other vehicle’s driver was a 47-year-old woman who admitted to drinking before the crash that resulted in Cordero’s death.

Before the tragic event occurred, Petara was soon to be the Chris Smith.

Relationship With NFL Player Chris Smith

Although the exact date is unknown, it appears that the NFL player and Petara had been in a relationship for a significant period of time. 

Petara was a mother to three children: one biological daughter named Haven Harris Smith and two stepchildren named Alaina Grace Smith and Jayceon Matthew Smith.

On March 23, 2019, Cordero shared a video on her Instagram page of the couple’s gender reveal ceremony.

Later, she posted a picture of her daughter with a heartfelt caption expressing her gratitude and excitement for her new role as a mother.

The caption read, “This little girl has filled my heart with so much joy and love!! I’m so thankful that God chose me to be her mommy!! So excited for this life journey with you!!! Haven Harris Smith.”

Cordero’s final post on Instagram was a picture of her with Chris Smith, accompanied by a touching caption dedicated to her love for him.
