Alex Ducas, an Australian professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the NBA, is making his parents and loved ones proud of his rising basketball career.

The former Geraldton Buccaneers star, Alex Ducas, recently engraved his name into NBA history as the latest Australian to win an .

The 6’7” guard led his team, the Oklahoma City Thunder, to win the 2026-25 NBA title in a Game 7, 103-91 victory over the Indiana Pacers, scoring 3.5 points and 3.5 rebounds.

While Ducas played limited minutes throughout the season, averaging 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds over 21 games, his contribution on a two-way contract with the Thunder and their G League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Blue, earned him a championship ring.

This marks the first NBA title for the Thunder franchise and places Alex Ducas among an elite group of Australian NBA champions, joining names like Luc Longley, Patty Mills, Andrew Bogut, and Matthew Dellavedova.

Alex Ducas’ father, , is an amazing former athlete currently serving as the assistant coach for the Geraldton Buccaneers of the NBL1 West since 2026.

Prior to his current position, Aaron served as the assistant coach of the Quadrio Earthmoving Geraldton Buccaneers and as the head coach of the State U18 Country team.

Alex’s father, Aaron Ducas, started playing basketball at a very young age of 6. He played basketball at John Willcock Senior High School, leading his team to several victories.

Similarly, Aaron represented Geraldton at numerous State Championships and Country Weeks as both player and coach.

He is a four-time GABA MVP, an inaugural member, and captain of the Geraldton Buccaneers and has coached Western Australia representative teams at National Championships.

In addition to his coaching career, has served as the project leader of Water Corporation in Geraldton, Western Australia, since 2019 and as a New Homes Consultant of Plunkett Homes for over 12 years.

Prior to that, Aaron served as the Project Manager for WBHO Civil for four years and as the Project Manager for Northcoast Holdings for 13 years.
