Jenny Godwin, a mother from Northeast Georgia, is raising her voice against cyberbullying after her daughter became the target of harassment by her own teammates.
According to Godwin, the girls created a secret chat group to mock her daughter, escalating the situation to the point where her child experienced emotional breakdowns at school.
Godwin revealed that while one of the girls showed her some of the harmful messages, she refused to send evidence or allow screenshots.
“I reported it, thinking the coach would take action, but nothing happened,” Godwin said.
“My daughter has had to be picked up from school twice due to breakdowns, and she has expressed self-harm thoughts.”
Despite the severity of the situation, Godwin says the high school has dismissed her daughter’s struggles as mere “girl drama.”
One girl eventually apologized, but others continued the harassment, posting online about her daughter’s distress.
The community has rallied in support of Godwin and her daughter. Commenters have encouraged her to persist, escalate complaints to the superintendent, and even involve law enforcement if necessary.
“We have to advocate for our kids,” Godwin said.
“Schools are normalizing this behavior, and it’s not normal.”
Experts and concerned citizens urge parents to take bullying seriously and to seek legal advice if schools fail to act.
Several parents shared similar experiences, stressing that ignoring such harassment can have tragic consequences.
Godwin remains determined to protect her daughter and ensure accountability.
“I will not stop,” she said. “No child should suffer like this, and no parent should have to watch it happen.”
