In Jeff Davis’ youth baseball, a disturbing incident unfolded when Zakylan, a young Black player, was told by two teammates that he had to stand at the back of the line because of his skin color.

His mother, Britt Fisher, immediately confronted the coach, who dismissed the racism with the phrase “kids will be kids.”

A Mother’s Fight Against Racism In Youth Baseball!

, saying she would keep reposting it so people know what her son went through.

She talked about how her son plays many sports in Jeff Davis, but rarely feels safe around white people.

Moreover, she shared how two boys on his team made racist comments and how the coach didn’t take it seriously.

In the same way, Britt also posted about Brea Mitchell, who spoke about similar issues and how racism affects kids and families.

Britt’s post focused on how racism is taught at home and how important it is to protect and speak up for Black children.

She ended her post by saying,

I know for a facts that plays a big part. I have heard and seen it Firsthand, but all that is still taught at home.

Many people commented on Britt’s post, sharing their own thoughts and support.

One person shared their belief in kindness and equality, saying,

Wow

that is so awful. I hope you put that man in his place. I personally never cared about who my kids dated as long as they were treated right. I don’t care about color. I think there are some really racist people in this world. We all need to be kind and love everyone regardless of their skin tone. I am as white as I can be and we have black friends that my kid call their uncles. My son and my daughter have dated black peoples and they were some of the most respectful and loving people. People spend too much time on hate. SMH

Another person shared their point of view, highlighting their anger and frustration, saying,

Oh hell no. They better get up off him. We love Zakylan! I can’t not stand the way these people around here be acting. Almost every single time me and Heem go to the store or out to eat they always ask “Are yall paying together,” like wtf. Finally one day I literally asked, “ma’am you asking me this bc he’s black and I’m white bc you aint got no reason to be asking that? ” of course her racist ass said it had nothing to do with color. Yes tf it did or you wouldn’t be asking me that.

They also talked about being treated differently when out with their Black partner, saying people often asked if they were paying together, which felt racist.

These comments show that many people were upset by what happened and want things to change.
