A promising Streetsville Derbys hockey player from Mississauga, Ontario, Gary Grahn Jr., passed away at 19, leaving behind his parents, Gary and Caterina Grahn, and two brothers.

The 5 feet-7 inches hockey player’s tragic passing comes a few days after he won the “Player of the Game” award on February 23, 2026.

While the main reason behind his untimely passing remains unknown, Gary is survived by his parents, and , and two brothers, Zachery and Jacob Grahn.

The young hockey player, Gary, was born as the eldest of three kids to Gary Joseph Grahn and Caterina Grahn on July 15, 2005, in Mississauga, ON.

His parents, Gary Joseph Grahn and Caterina Grahn, have been married for 21 years. They walked down the aisle on August 14, 2004.

On their 16th wedding anniversary in 2026, Gary playfully shared a heartfelt yet sarcastic message on Instagram for Caterina, celebrating their enduring marriage. He wrote,

Happy anniversary to us! 16 years and counting ! But who’s counting ??? Lol

His brother Zachery Grahn was born on October 1, 2007, and his other brother, Jacob Grahn, was born on November 15, 2008.

His two brothers, Zachery and Jacob, are also hockey players.

His brother plays for the Caledon Bombers in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL). Over the last 5 games, Zachery has provided 2 assists, totaling 2 points.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the sudden passing of our brother, Gary Grahn of the Streetsville Derbys Junior Hockey Club. Gary was not just a teammate, he was a friend and an integral part of our hockey family. His passion for the game and his unwavering spirit will always be remembered.

Forever a Derby, his memory will live on in each rink we step onto. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time. Rest in Peace, Gary. You will be deeply missed,” read the Streetsville Derbys’ post.

Gary Grahn’s Father, Gary Joseph Grahn, Is an Experienced Executive With a Career That Spans Over Two Decades!

Gary Joseph Grahn is an accomplished executive with over twenty-five years of international experience in the energy, oil and gas, utilities, and mineral and metals industries.

He has been the Chief Operating Officer at GH Power since January 2026. Previously, he was a senior management consultant at Grahn Management Inc. for over a decade.

Throughout his career, he has showcased expertise in diverse fields, including project management, business development, strategic planning, contract negotiations, and safety enforcement.

Gary has held various senior roles, including Chief Operating Officer at GH Power, Senior Management Consultant at Grahn Management Inc., and Chief Executive Officer at Volume Biomass LP.

Likewise, he worked as a senior project manager at Hatch, vice president at SNC-Lavalin, manager of projects at Wardrop Engineering, senior project manager at AMEC, and more.

His professional journey has seen him lead projects and feasibility studies across multiple countries, including Brazil, Colombia, China, and Australia.

Gary Joseph Grahn graduated from Concordia University with an MBA in Project Management in 2006. He is also a graduate of the University of Manchester.

Whereas Gary Jr.’s mother, Caterine, is a realtor. She was born on September 23, 1974, and celebrated her 50th birthday in 2026.

Caterina, affectionately known as Cat, has been a Residential Real Estate Sales and Leasing Representative at Century 21 Associates for almost two decades.
