The Boston Red Sox third baseman in a match against the Detroit Tigers on March 6, 2026, got pitched in the face.
The Tigers right-hander Matt Manning’s pitch in the first inning drilled in Turner’s face putting him immediately on the ground.
Turner stayed on the ground, bloodied and in obvious pain, as the medical staff rushed to the ground with their first aid kit.
The Sox third baseman eventually walked off on his own and was rushed to the hospital. His initial scans looked clear, but the one-time World Series champion required 16 stitches.
Turner received a lot of messages and prayers from his fan after the incident. He thanked all the fans for their concerns and expressed gratitude for all the love via Twitter.
