The widow of late Columbus Blue Jackets winger Johnny Gaudreau, Meredith Gaudreau, was born to parents Ed Morris and Cher.
Meredith Gaudreau announced her third pregnancy with her late NHL star , who passed away in August 2026, along with his younger brother, Matthew Gaudreau, in a bicycle accident caused by a drunk driver.
She shared the joyful news during her emotional eulogy at Johnny’s memorial service in September 2026.
Meredith celebrated her pregnancy with a joint baby shower alongside fellow Blue Jackets wives Kelly Labanc and Aleksandra Merzlikins.
Regardless of the immense grief of losing Johnny, she has found strength in the support of the Blue Jackets community, family, and friends.
Her parents, Ed Morris and Cher, have also played a vital role as she navigates her life through the ordeal.
They have helped her cope with the loss of Johnny and are there as she prepares to welcome her third child, a comforting reminder of Johnny’s lasting presence in her life.

Ed Morris, Meredith Gaudreau’s father, is a lifelong member of the Catholic community in the Philadelphia area.
Born the third of nine children, Ed grew up to be a spiritual individual, highly influenced and raised with a strong foundation in faith by his mother.
Several instances in his life remind him of the presence of God, but one of the many stories from his childhood stands out the most.
His mother narrowly escaped drowning while ice-skating, believing angels rescued her. This experience reinforced Ed’s belief in the presence of God.
Despite facing severe financial struggles, Ed Morris had patience and faith in the timing of the divine. If not, his perseverance paid off as he experienced a series of fortunate events.
One such moment was when Ed Morris heard God’s voice urging him to forgive his late father. He recalled feeling a profound sense of peace and release from bitterness.
Likewise, another particularly memorable moment occurred during the birth of his fourth child.
While parking at the hospital, Ed Morris prayed for a son after already being blessed with three daughters.
Morris revealed that he distinctly heard God assure him, “Get in there. You will get your boy.” True to God’s promise, Ed and his wife welcomed a healthy baby boy.
In March 2018, Ed Morris founded Team Hope, a prayer group that has since grown to include 6000 active members.
Ed’s journey took an unexpected turn when his friend Tony Mullen invited him to join the Flame of Love ministry.
Initially hesitant to preach, Ed Morris eventually embraced his calling after organizing a prayer service for a gravely ill friend.
This event’s success and Tony’s subsequent passing motivated Ed Morris to continue leading prayer services. Thus far, he has led 16 Community Prayer and Inspiration Nights.
