John McNally, a 1999 graduate of Ithaca who was a part of the Bomber coaching staff, tragically passed away.
John McNally, born in Ithaca, New York, United States, coached Ithaca’s outfielders and was the first base coach.
He spent around four years as a student assistant coach and earned a degree in health and physical education.
McNally earned his in exercise science in 2001 while working for the athletic department as a graduate assistant.
He also served as a physical education teacher in the Ithaca City School District.
Ithaca Athletics Community Is Mourning The Tragic Death Of John McNally
A teacher and coach at Ithaca City School District, John McNally, in June 2026. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Joe Scaglion III, FAA Licensed Commercial Drone pilot, took to his official Facebook handle to announce the death of John and said the Ithaca Athletics community is mourning his death. He wrote,

Penfield, New York, resident Linda Dickey took to the comment section and said she was blessed to work with John. She wrote,
I was blessed to be able to work with John McNally. I’m so saddened by his passing
Theresa Padufalski Cooper also took the comment section and offered her heartfelt condolences by stating,
He was the only one with positive intentions trying to help me with my daughter. He was one of a kind. He was one of the best! I will truly miss him. He was the coach that was like I grew up with.. a coach you could go to for help and kindness. RIP fly high ! ❤️❤️🙏🙏

Condolences to John’s family and friends.
Nicole Reynold, an Ithaca, New York resident, also took to the comment section and praised John’s works. He wrote,
Truly one of the very best. He loved life, the kids he taught and coached, athletics, his friends, family and God. I’ll miss him.
Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to John’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment.
He will always be remembered for his contribution as a teacher and coach at the Ithaca City School District. His family will soon reveal the funeral service schedule.
Although his family stayed away from the media spotlight, they always supported John in achieving his dream of becoming a coach.
