Leslie Lyle “Bubba” Dunn, Greensburg girls’ softball team coach, passed away at the age of 83 at his home on Thursday, September 4, 2026.
He was a true sports enthusiast, especially of his beloved LSU Tigers.

His life was a dedication to his faith, service, and a deep love for sports and his community. He was a devoted member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church.
Moreover, his commitment to his faith extended beyond the church walls through his active participation in Gideon’s International, an organization dedicated to sharing the Bible worldwide.
Bubba’s was the familiar face behind the wheel for the Greensburg High School Wildcats athletic teams for years. He was a part of the team, safely transporting generations of young athletes to their games, sharing in their excitement and pre-game nerves.
Furthermore, he took on the role of coach for the Greensburg girls’ softball team, teaching them not only the game’s mechanics but also the virtues of cooperation, tenacity, and sportsmanship.
Unfortunately, his untimely passing saddened the whole community.
Leslie Lyle “Bubba” Dunn’s Family Mourns the Tragic Loss
Leslie Lyle “Bubba” Dunn, a beloved pillar of the Greensburg community, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 4, 2026. He was 83 years old.
He was born on September 15, 1941, in Grangeville to the late Joseph and Ethel Dunn.

He lived a life rich in faith, family, and friendship, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
His loving wife of 62 years, Lois “Chee Chee” Schwartz Dunn, survives him. They have built a beautiful family, which is his most incredible pride and joy.
He had one son, Christopher Leslie Dunn, who is married to Kelly, and two daughters, Brenda Anne Dunn Miller, married to Randy, and Sherry Lois Dunn Schivers, married to Robert.
Moreover, he shared a close bond with his sister, Doris JoAnn Dunn Higgins, and his brother, Frank Garnett “Randy” Dunn.
Bubba’s legacy continues through his five adored grandchildren: Julie Ann Glass Martin, Randall Wilson Miller, Margaret Adele Dunn, Abigail Elizabeth Dunn, and Molly Catherine Dunn.
He was blessed with a lively crew of great-grandchildren: Finley Martin, Ferris Martin, Kaden Glass, Daltry Glass, Sawyer Glass, Riggins Glass, Matthew Miller, and Scarlett A. Miller.
Similarly, he leaves behind numerous loving nephews, nieces, and their families, who will cherish his memory.
On the other hand, he was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Rev. Joseph “Sandy” Emerson Dunn, Jr.; two grandchildren, Douglas Jason Glass and Breanne Adele Miller; three sisters-in-law, Janie Cunningham Dunn, Ann Blades, and Sally Needham; and two brothers-in-law, Dr. Bob Higgins and James “Jimmy” C. Schwartz.
Bubba was a faithful member of the Greensburg United Methodist Church, known for his generous spirit and his ability to tell a good story.
The name “Bubba” suited him perfectly, as he was a friend to all and a constant, reassuring presence in the lives of his family and friends.
The Dunn family invited relatives and friends to attend the visitation at Greensburg United Methodist Church, located at 15025 Highway 10, Greensburg, LA, on Friday, September 5, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Visitation will continue on Saturday, September 6, from 8:00 AM until the religious service at 10:00 AM, conducted by Rev. Donnie Easley and Rev. Shawn Ostoj. Interment will follow at Greensburg Cemetery.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
Bubba’s kind heart and gentle smile will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will be forever treasured.
