American businessman and social media personality David Portney had a beautiful marital relationship with his wife, Renne Portney, whom he married in 2009. Nine years after their marriage, the couple parted ways, citing an irretrievable breakdown.

It’s been six years since they separated, but they have not gotten a legitimate divorce.

In 2026, David Portney and his estranged wife filed for a divorce, but the judge denied their petition.

During his appearance on the Call Her Daddy Podcast in May 2026, when the podcast host asked the Barstool Sports founder about his current marital status, he revealed that he is still technically married. Meanwhile, he said,

I tried to get a divorce. We filed the paperwork, and the judge looked at [the petition] and said “nope he has too much money,” and wouldn’t accept it.

In their divorce arrangement, Dave expressed his desire not to divide his assets with his estranged wife and to maintain a joint bank account.

However, a Massachusetts judge declared the arrangement ‘unacceptable,’ dismissed the divorce petition, and even tried to provoke Renne, as Dave said.

They [told Renee] “he’s trying to screw you,” but I wasn’t.’ We both want the best for each other … I was trying to buy a house in Nantucket … [but] I couldn’t get the house … if I gave her half of everything I have.

Just a month after the judge officially dismissed their petition, Dave bought a $42 million harborfront property on Nantucket Island and has enjoyed his lavish life since then.

On the other hand, he has given his wife Renne full access to his $250 million net worth so that she can have the life she always wanted.
