Spud Jones, a professional bull rider, suffered a tragic death that has left everyone in shock.
According to Spud’s official page, he lived in Twin Lakes, New Mexico.
Spud Jones continued to chase the thrill of the arena in the 2026 PBR Team Series.
Standing 6 feet tall and weighing 145 pounds, he brought over a decade of experience to the circuit.
With one career event win and lifetime earnings totaling $7,459.03, Jones competed in both the Touring Pro Division and the prestigious Built Ford Tough Series, highlighted by top finishes in Craig and Perryton, Colorado, in 2007.
Professional Bull Rider Spud Jones Took His Last Breath On Friday
Spud Jones, a professional bull rider, tragically passed away on Friday, July 4, 2026. However, the exact cause of death has not been revealed yet.
An actor, comedian, and speaker, Tatanka Means took to his official Facebook page and offered his heartfelt , sending prayers to Spud’s family. He wrote,
Condolences to the family and relatives of Spud Jones. Sad to hear he journeyed on. We rode bulls together way back in jr rodeo days he always had a good attitude and was a tough talented rider and went on to ride professionally. I remember when he rode at the NFR. Good memories. Journey well old friend
Navajo Community College graduate Ritchie Bates also the loss of Spud. He wrote,
Hello sorry to hear about the champ, I had put this collage framed pic together for the champ, its on my wall at the ranch, still there, was waiting for him to pick it up, My heroes will always be cowboys, condolences goes out to the Family.
The University of New Mexico graduate, Carmee Love, also offered her condolences by stating,
OMG Jonesey Spud I can’t believe your gone, we had such a good month with you, you were such a good guy. I’ll never forget the prank you played on Sherri, lol. Gonna miss ya guy. R.I.P your riding with lane now. 🙏🥺😔😥 Our condolences go out to the family 🙏
Twila Jones took to her official Facebook handle and organized a fundraising campaign to help Spud’s family with funeral expenses. She also shared the donation details and the contact person.
She wrote,
With great sadness, we the family of Spud Jones announce his passing on July 4, 2026. We are reaching out to our family, friends, and extended rodeo family to help support his funeral expenses. If you feel called to contribute, any donation is deeply appreciated. Donation details and contact persons are listed below. Donation meeting and services are currently pending. Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers during this difficult time.
Other close ones and relatives have also poured their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Spud’s family to stay strong in this heartbreaking moment.
Jones will always be remembered for his unforgettable contribution as a bull rider. Rest in Heaven, Spud Jones.
Spud Jones Is Survived By His Father, John, And Aunt Caroline
Spud Jones was born to his father, John Jones, and his mother, whose identity has not been disclosed.
Although John has stayed away from the media spotlight, he supported Spud in achieving his athletic dreams.
Spud is also survived by his aunt, Armijo Caroline (Kal Jones). Recently, she her gratitude to everyone for their prayers and condolences by stating,

According to some sources, Spud is also survived by his sister, Kayla Jones, who has also been staying out of the media.
