The Bayside High School community is mourning the heartbreaking news of head football coach Jon White’s passing on Sunday, November 16, 2026.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and sons, while the details of his death remain private for now.
Just two days earlier, on Friday, Coach White led the Marlins in a playoff game.
He was a familiar and respected face in Hampton Roads high school athletics. For decades, he has shaped young lives both on and off the field.

A father, coach, mentor—whatever you needed, J White was that guy! Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to make highlight videos for the boys. I was able to witness the bond you had with them and how much they respected you as more than their coach. Never a dull moment when we got together! “I had the pleasure of speaking with Jon when he spoke to my husband who was the Kellam HS coach. Jon was my FAVORITE coach whom my husband spoke to and there were a lot over 20 years.
