Ballard High School Football Letterman and Accomplished Young Professional Aaron M. Fandel, 27, Dies Leaving Wife Candace in Mourning

The Seattle community is mourning the loss of Aaron M. Fandel, who passed away unexpectedly on October 7, 2026, at the age of 27.
Born on August 7, 1998, in Seattle, Washington, Aaron lived a life defined by ambition, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to those around him.
From a young age, Aaron excelled both academically and athletically.
He attended TOPS School in Seattle before graduating from Ballard High School in 2016, where he made his mark as a standout athlete.
Aaron four varsity letters in football and secured a place on the King County All Metro Team during his junior and senior years, recognized for his talent and determination as an offensive lineman.
Aaron carried that same drive into his college years at Washington State University (WSU), where he attended from 2016 to 2026.
He joined Sigma Pi fraternity, quickly becoming an active and influential member of the Greek system.
His leadership culminated in his election as President of WSU’s Interfraternity Council during his senior year.
He also further broadened his perspective by spending a summer in Washington, D.C., working as a Congressional Intern for U.S. Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers.
After graduating with dual degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice, along with a minor in Business, Aaron embarked on a professional path that showcased his work ethic and natural ability to connect with others.
He joined Federated Insurance as a marketing representative, serving clients across multiple regions in Washington State.
His dedication paid off—as colleagues praised his diligence, he earned national sales awards and achieved early financial success.
Life brought both adventure and love to Aaron. During a business trip to Federated’s headquarters in Owatonna, Minnesota, he met Candace Goodsell. Their bond flourished, leading to their marriage on August 23, 2026, in Snohomish, Washington.
After their honeymoon in the Maldives, the couple settled into life together in Bothell and explored destinations across the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Mexico.
Aaron embraced the outdoors, enjoying skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and even skydiving during a memorable trip to Oahu.
Those who knew Aaron describe him as the heart of every gathering—an energetic, welcoming force who brought people together.
He gained a reputation as an unforgettable host, organizing pool parties, Apple Cup watch events, karaoke nights, and country music–themed celebrations.
Friends often recalled his infectious smile, generous spirit, and limitless enthusiasm.
Whether cheering for the Mariners, debating politics, or offering a seat to someone in need, Aaron lived with kindness, respect, and humility.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Candace Fandel; his parents, John and Mona Fandel; and his brothers, David and Andrew.
His family, friends, and community remember him as a loving husband, caring son and brother, devoted friend, and inspiring leader.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, October 18, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Shingletown Saloon in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. All who knew Aaron or were touched by his life are welcome to attend.
In honor of Aaron’s enduring commitment to student leadership, his family asks that donations be made to the Aaron Fandel – Interfraternity Man of the Year Scholarship at Washington State University.
Aaron personally established this scholarship after graduating, dedicating his own resources to support the next generation of fraternity leaders.
Though Aaron’s life ended far too soon, his legacy of leadership, generosity, and joy continues to inspire those who knew him.
His loved ones take comfort in knowing that the impact he made—in classrooms, on the field, at work, and in the hearts of countless friends—will endure for years to come.
