A routine day of play turned into a medical emergency for Kaleb Lopez, an 11-year-old baseball player from Fulshear, Texas, after a freak accident left him with multiple facial fractures.

Kaleb, who plays for the Apex Vipers Baseball team, was playing in his yard on Thursday, July 24, when a line drive struck him directly in the face.

The impact was so severe that he was rushed to the local emergency room, where doctors quickly realized the injury required more specialized care.

He was transferred to the downtown Children’s Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Doctors diagnosed Kaleb with an acute blowout fracture of the right orbital floor, along with multiple other facial fractures.

While he is now recovering at home, his journey is far from over.

He is expected to undergo numerous follow-up appointments and may require facial surgery in the near future to fully recover.

Adding to the family’s burden is the lack of medical insurance; Kaleb does not qualify for Medicaid, leaving his family to face mounting medical bills on their own.

A GoFundMe Has Been Organized To Help The Family In This Tough Time

To help offset the overwhelming cost of emergency care, specialist consultations, and potential surgery, Kaleb’s grandparents, Robert and Denise Armitage, have launched a GoFundMe campaign.

The Armitages wrote,

“We are setting up the GoFundMe to help assist with the medical expenses he has already incurred and for the upcoming appointments with the specialists and possible upcoming surgery. Kaleb does not have medical insurance, and he does not qualify for any Medicaid benefits. Please keep Kaleb in your prayers for a speedy recovery and getting back to baseball, a sport he loves to play!”

The campaign is a heartfelt plea for community support, whether through financial donations or simply sharing the fundraiser link.

Kaleb is described as a passionate and talented young athlete, deeply dedicated to the game of baseball.

His team, the Apex Vipers, and the local Fulshear community have already begun rallying around him, sharing messages of love, encouragement, and hope.

As the family focuses on Kaleb’s recovery and the uncertain road ahead, they are grateful for every bit of support received.

To contribute to Kaleb’s recovery or share the fundraiser, you can visit the GoFundMe page set up by the Armitage family.

Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference in helping this young baseball player heal and return to the sport he loves.
