Jack Campbell, who played basketball for the Summerland Rockets, tragically took his own life on Thursday.

Campbell was a grade 12 student-athlete who played as a forward for the Summerland Rockets in the Okanagan 2A league.

Standing 6’2″, he wore jersey number 2 and was preparing for the 2026 high school basketball season.

Jack Campbell, born in 2007, took his own life on Thursday, May 1, 2026. The reason behind the suicide has not been revealed.

LocoLanding Adventure Park in Penticton took to their official handle and mourned the loss of Jack. They wrote,

On Thursday, we experienced an unimaginable loss—our team lost one of our own, and our hearts are broken. Jack Campbell was about to begin his fourth season with us. He was a bright light—always smiling, endlessly positive, and a true leader on our team. Anyone who had the chance to work with Jack at LocoLanding or Coyote Cruises knew their shift would be filled with laughter and good energy. He had a gift for lifting others up, encouraging those around him, and making every day brighter.

They have also announced that staff and teens from the LocoLanding community can call 310-6789 if they need mental health support. The service is available 24/7.

In the comment section, friends and relatives have poured their heartfelt condolences. One person wrote,

Another person wrote,

Kriss Morel also sent her heartfelt condolences to Jack’s family. She wrote,

Bigger Than Basketball also took to their official Instagram handle to mourn the loss of Jack. They wrote,

We mourn the loss of Jack Campbell and express our most sincere condolences to his loved ones and those who were touched by his positivity and energy.

West Kelowna, BC, resident Jason Haddad has organized a fundraising campaign to help Jack’s family with the funeral service costs.

The campaign aims to collect $30k, and it has collected around $20,052.

Ann Hornick Holmes also shared the link to her official Facebook handle and requested everyone to donate. She wrote,

Grayson’s teammate just lost his brother, Jack. Their family is now left with a void that can never be filled. Please consider donating—even the smallest amount can help ease the financial burden as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

Other close ones and relatives have also offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to Jack’s family to stay strong in this challenging time.
