Orem High School Veteran Track and Field Coach, Andrew ‘Andy’ Jacobs, Passes From Heart Complication, Survived by Wife Camie and Four Children

Andrew ‘Andy’ Jacobs, Utah native and longtime Orem High School Track and Field coach, passed away this week at an untimely age, leaving his family, friends, and loved ones devastated.
According to social media reports, Andrew Jacobs passed away from heart complications. He was struggling with heart problems for several years.
Similarly, in his recentjust a few days before his untimely death, Andrew Jacobs revealed that on August 4, 2026, he had open heart surgery to replace his aortic valve, bypass, and have a maze procedure done.
He further added that the surgery did not go perfectly, and his heart did not re-establish any heart rhythms, and the doctors had to add an external pacemaker to his heart, with the hope of re-establishing the connection.
Jacobs, who was in the ICU at UVRMC, underwent another surgery to install a brand new internal pacemaker; however, he could not survive.
The untimely demise of veteran Orem High School track & field coach has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.
Many of his loved ones are remembering Andy Jacobs as a legendary coach and a great human being who was always there to help people in need and extend their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Andrew ‘Andy’ Jacobs is survived by his longtime wife, Camie Casper Jacobs, childrens, Cameron, Sydney (Patten), Drew Jacobs, Mya, and Ty, siblings, David M. Jacobs, Diane Jacobs Stanley, Daniel Jacobs, and Scott Jacobs, mother, Viola Jean Jacobs, father, Duane Jacob,s and the whole family.
The Late Andrew Jacobs Joined Orem High School as the Head Track & Field Coach in 2004
Andrew ‘Andy’ Jacobs served as the head track & field coach of Orem High School for over 21 years, joining the school in 2004.
During his tenure of over two decades, Andy Jacobs led his team to several victories and set impressive records.
He led the team 11 state championships, nurturing 31 state champion athletes.
Similarly, the late Andy Jacobs was a four-time recipient of the Utah Track & Field Coach of the Year award and served as both boys’ and girls’ cross country coach.
He also instilled his athletic genes in all four of his children, Sydney, Cameron, Mya, and Ty.
Andy’s daughter, , is a former cross-country star at Utah State University who earned the Mountain West scholar-athlete honors. She was also 13-time letterwinner in cross country, soccer, and track & field at Orem High School and led her track & field team to a state championship in 2016.
Similarly, his other daughter, Mya Jacobs, is also a former member of Orem High School’s track & field team.
Andy’s son, , currently plays for the cross country team at Utah Valley, where in outdoor he won the WAC championship in the 3000m.
Before Utah Valley, Cameron was a four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track at Orem High School, winning the state title in track and field in 2026.
His other son, Ty Jacobs, is also pursuing his athletic journey at Utah Valley and is on the Track & Field team.
In addition to his coaching career, Andrew ‘Andy’ Jacobs was also pursuing his career as a director of strategic accounts at Vanguard Protex Global.
He earned his associate’s degree in business management from Utah Valley University, where he was a standout track and field member.
Andy’s remarkable contribution to the community as a great coach will always be remembered.
His family has organized a funeral service for the late Andy on Monday, August 25, at the Orem East Stake Center. A viewing will be held at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home on Sunday, August 24.

- The late Andrew Jacobs served as a senior sales operations manager at Boost Mobile from 2017 to 2026 and worked with Sprint Nextel Inc. for almost 21 years, serving in different positions, including district sales manager, sales operations manager, and regional sales manager.
