Teddy Bridgewater embraced a fatherly role with his students, coaching them with care, guidance, and affection.

His fatherly instincts are undeniable. During his time as head coach at Miami Northwestern High School, he often referred to his players as “son.”

After retiring from the NFL, he devoted most of his time to coaching at his alma mater, Miami Northwestern High School.

However, after coaching for about a year at Miami Northwestern High School, Teddy was suspended by the Florida High School Athletic Association.

When the Athletic Association ruled that he had provided “impermissible benefits” to players at Miami Northwestern, Bridgewater defended his actions.

He said that he was simply helping kids avoid dangerous walks home in Liberty City.

His intent, as he explained, wasn’t to break rules but to protect and support the young athletes he treated like his own sons.

Following this setback, Bridgewater chose to step away from high school coaching and returned to the NFL.

Whether through his relationships, community ties, or coaching, Bridgewater consistently demonstrates a sense of responsibility and care that extends beyond the football field.
