Clear Springs High School basketball player Zain Osundwa passed away on Thursday.
Zain Jaxson Osundwa was born in Houston, Texas, on July 17, 2007.
Although he was born in the United States, his family is originally from Nairobi, Kenya.
He was enrolled at Clear Springs High School, where he played basketball.
Zain Jaxson Osundwa Passed Away At The Age Of 17
Zain Jaxson Osundwa took his last breath on Thursday, May 1, 2026, at 17. However, the cause of death has not been revealed yet.
His father, Oscar Osundwa, the tragic news through Facebook. On May 3, 2026, Oscar took to his official Facebook handle and wrote,
Not the kind of post I thought I would ever be posting. A piece of our hearts is gone, and nothing will ever fill that void. Our precious baby boy Zain Jaxson passed away on May 1st. He was our life and the love of our lives for 17 years. The love, light, honesty, joy and humor will be intensively missed. Our lives, and life will never be the same without him. Please keep our family in your prayers. We love you so so much baby boy. We will post more information about the service in his honor, soon. Thank you for your kind messages of support and love.
In the comment section, Zain’s friends and relatives offered their heartfelt condolences and sent prayers to the Osundwa family to stay strong in this challenging moment. One person wrote,

Zain Osundwa Is Survived By His Parents And Sister, Anya Osundwa
Zain Jackson Osundwa shared a close bond with his father, Oscar Osundwa, and his mother, Diedre Osundwa. His parents were married on September 28, 2001.
On September 28, 2019, Oscar took to his Facebook handle and wished Diedre a happy 18th wedding anniversary. He wrote,
Happy 18th anniversary to my amazing wife and mother to my sweet babies. Love you mucho.
Zain’s mother, , is a Galveston College nursing graduate. She is also a co-owner of A to Z Longterm Care Consulting and the co-founder of a non-profit organization, Jateri Children and Youth of the Future.
On July 17, 2026, Oscar took to his official Facebook handle and wished Zain a happy 16th birthday. He wrote,
Happy Sixteenth Birthday to our baby boy Zain Jaxon Osundwa. Praying God continues embracing you and may your year be filled with loads of blessings. Love you.
According to Zain’s father, Oscar’s official profile states that he served as Senior Care Excellence, LLC’s chief operating officer from May 2026 to March 2026.
Since March 2026, Oscar has served as the chief executive officer at Huiana Health Care Consulting, located in Houston, Texas, United States.
Zain’s sister, Anya, Clear Springs High School, where she served as the student council president and was a basketball team member from 2026 to 2026.
From March 2026 to June 2026, she was a part-time tutor at Kumon North America, Inc.
She is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Cinematography and film production at the University of San Francisco and will graduate in 2027.
