Former Soddy Daisy High School Multi-Sports Athlete and Tennessee State Wrestling Champion, Brian Jason Howell, 51, Passes Away After Courageous Battle With Cancer, Survived by Children Brice and Lola

Brian Jason Howell, a Soddy Daisy, Tennessee native and former multi-sports athlete, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2026, at an untimely age of 51.
The untimely death of beloved Soddy Daisy native Brian Jason Howell came after his year-long courageous battle with cancer.
According to a GoFundMe created by his daughter, Lola Howell, in 2026, Brian Howell was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, which had spread to other parts of his body.
The post also mentioned that doctors said surgery was no longer an option, so Lola decided to raise funds to take care of him and provide him with the best possible quality of life for as long as he was alive.
The post reads:
“The money that I raise will be to take care of him and help him have the most fun he can! He is an amazing dad and I love him and anything that you could give would help us so much. He has always wanted to go deep sea fishing and I want to surprise him for Father’s Day and help him fulfill his dreams.”
Brian Jason Howell touched the lives of many with his remarkable athletic journey and his kind, helpful nature.
Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Brian Howell and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.
Brian began his athletic journey from a very young age and excelled in multiple sports while attending Soddy Daisy High School.
While in high school, Howell both baseball and wrestling, leading his team to several victories throughout his tenure.
Similarly, he won the 1992 Tennessee State Wrestling Championship at Soddy Daisy High School.
In addition to being an amazing wrestler and baseball player, Brian was a skilled craftsman and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
He later continued his career as an Ironworker and then a Traffic signal contractor.
The remarkable contributions of the late Brian Jason Howell to Soddy Daisy’s sports community, along with his cheerful nature, will always remain in the hearts of his loved ones.
Brian Jason Howell Leaves Behind His Two Children, Siblings, and The Entire Family
Brian Jason Howell was not just an amazing athlete but also a great father to his two children, son Brice Howell and daughter Lola Howell, whom he shared with his former wife, Charity Lowe.
While very little information is available about his son, Brice, as he prefers to maintain a low profile, his daughter,, is pursuing her marketing degree at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and is set to graduate in 2026.
Simultaneously, Lola works as a social media manager at Golden Yolk in Cleveland, Tennessee, and as a social media marketing intern at her university.
In addition to his children, Brian Jason Howell is survived by his daughter-in-law, Chynasia, brothers, Chuck and Jeff Howell, sister, Kristy Howell, sisters-in-law, Angie Howell and Melody Kennedy, nephews, Jake Howell, Jordan Howell, Davan Howell, and Asbjorn Howell, nieces, Davona Howell, Adelheidi Howell, and Ariana Howell, and his loved ones.
Brian Jason Howell was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Howell and Patsy Steele, and brother, Eric Howell.
Furthermore, Brian followed in the footsteps of his father, Charles ‘Charlie’ Wlburn Howell Jr., in sports. His father played freshman football at Soddy-Daisy High School and then turned to boxing.
His father, Charlie, was of the Red Bank Boxing team 61-63, where he won the 105 lb Sub-Novice and the 118 lb open Golden Gloves Championships.
He also coached his sons, Brian, Jeff, and Chuck, in youth baseball and football at Middle Valley, where he built the first concession/press box at the fields.
Similarly, Charlie coached the Chattanooga Boxing Club for years in the early 70s and won the 126 lb open Golden Gloves Championship representing Chattanooga in the Southern GG in Knox, TN in 1970.
Brian’s father, Charlie Howell, passed away on April 24, 2013, at the age of 68.
